This Best of Botswana Safari tour offers the best of Botswana 7 days – a six-night safari in three different Botswana safari lodges. Your journey begins in the heart of the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve where you can witness the diversity of wildlife that calls the Okavango Delta home.

A short light aircraft from Moremi takes you to the heart of the Okavango Delta to Xugana Island Lodge where you will enjoy daily bush walks, mokoro excursions and boating safaris as you learn more about the intricacies of the Okavango Delta.

Your final stop is two nights in the Savute region of the Chobe National Park at the luxurious Savute Safari Lodge. Savute is a prime game viewing destination for a Botswana Safari and home to the infamous marsh and northern lion prides documented in the Savage Kingdom wildlife documentary.

Itinerary

Day 1 & 2 – Johannesburg – Maun – Camp Moremi, Botswana

On arrival at the Maun airport, you will be met by a representative who will assist you with boarding your light aircraft transfer to Camp Moremi for 2 nights.  Your light aircraft flight will offer you an introduction to the Okavango Delta as you witness the vastness of the world heritage site from the air. Landing at the Moremi airstrip, your guide will meet you and transfer you by road to Camp Moremi where you can settle into your luxurious room.

You will spend the next two nights at Camp Moremi enjoying game drives and boating excursions as you search for the prolific wildlife that inhabits the Moremi Game Reserve.

Our team of experienced Professional guides will introduce you to a whole new world of wildlife; watch a Leopard stretched out lazily in the branches of a Mopane tree, herds of Elephant grazing under a canopy of green or a pride of Lions camouflaged in the long grass. Moremi Game Reserve’s incredible wetlands support a vast number of antelope, including Impala, Kudu and Waterbuck. Birdlife is prolific and the majestic Fish Eagle and vivid Malachite Kingfisher are frequently seen and even the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl makes an occasional appearance, to the delight of guides and guests alike.

Day 3 & 4 – Maun Moremi – Xugana Island Lodge, Okavango Delta, Botswana

Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Moremi Game Reserve before your light aircraft transfer to Xugana Island Lodge, a remote lodge on a private concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Spend the next two nights exploring the intricacies of the Okavango Delta from a variety of activities including mokoro excursions, boating safaris, guided bush walks, game drives as well as night drives. For those keen on fishing, optional fishing excursions are available in season.

Described as ‘the jewel of the Kalahari’, the Okavango Delta – a tranquil and isolated oasis set in the harsh and arid surroundings of Botswana’s bush and desert – is widely regarded as one of Africa’s best safari destinations, with its rich diversity of fauna and flora. Xugana Island Lodge is in a private concession offering a range of activities giving you the chance to experience a true Okavango Delta safari. All activities are conducted by experienced professional guides. Explore the crystal-clear waterways by mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) or motorboat for the chance to enjoy the magnificent variety of bird, plant and reptile species found in the area.

Your experienced guide will also take you on a guided nature walk on surrounding islands in the concession, giving you the chance to experience nature up close and personal. Day and night game drives are also available within the private concession for a chance to search for the prolific wildlife found in the area.

Day 5 & 6 – Xugana Island Lodge, Okavango Delta – Savute Safari Lodge, Chobe, Botswana

After a last morning activity in the delta, depart Xugana Island Lodge and make your way by light aircraft to your final stop – Savute Safari Lodge. Your safari ends with two nights exploring the Savute region of the Chobe National Park. Known as one of the best game viewing destinations in Botswana, your focus will be on daily game drives along the Savute channel and through the Savute Marsh in search of those memorable wildlife sightings.

Activities are organised around game drives throughout the Savute area in open 4×4 safari vehicles. Many trips will incorporate a visit to the Savute Marsh to give you a chance to see the historic presence of the Savute Channel at the marsh against a backdrop of teeming wildlife. Guests can also enjoy a visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills – a small hilly outcrop which forms a prominent landmark in the otherwise flat landscape.

Day 7 – Savute Safari Lodge – Maun, Botswana – Johannesburg – Last Day

Your safari ends on day 7 with a final morning game drive followed by a light aircraft transfer to Maun. If you are departing Botswana on a regional flight, your light aircraft transfer will have you back in Maun in time for your onward Journey or your International flight home.
