Overview
This Cape Town & Chobe National Park 7 Days / 6 Nights tour and safari start off in Cape Town (vice versa can be done). Described by Sir Francis Drake in 1580 as ‘the fairest Cape of them all in the world’, the ‘Mother City’ of Cape Town is one of the world’s top tourist destinations. Nestled in the shadow of Table Mountain, Cape Town is sophisticated and beautiful, a vibrant and colourful city – with plenty to offer the traveller you should never get bored. Table Mountain is the iconic backdrop of Cape Town rising over 1000m above sea level – it can be seen from all over the city. Taking the revolving cable car up to the top is a must or if you’re feeling adventurous there are several hiking routes to the summit.
The second part of this itinerary whisks you off to the remote Chobe National Park in Botswana – Chobe is one of the best places in Africa to see elephants in their natural habitat, and in large numbers, on a great African Big 5 Safari. During your 4 night stay you will cruise on the river, have tradition vehicle game drives and enjoy a full day exploring the park (with a stunning picnic lunch). Hippos wallow in the waters, crocodile laze in the sun and rich birdlife surround the area.
Itinerary
Days 1 to 5: Arrive in Cape Town – Victoria & Alfred Hotel, V&A Waterfront
On arrival at the Cape Town International Airport you will be met and transferred to the Victoria & Alfred Hotel, ideally located in the V&A Waterfront, for your 4-night stay.
With plenty to offer the traveller you should never get bored in Cape Town. The Victoria & Alfred (V&A) Waterfront is a prime attraction in the city, a working harbour and tourist attraction offering world class shopping, a huge variety of restaurants, cafes & bars and the Two Oceans Aquarium. The ferry trip to Robben Island, the site of Nelson Mandela’s incarceration for much of his 27 years in prison, leaves from here.
