Overview

The luxury Safari at Inyati Game Lodge 3 Days / 2 Nights (more days/nights can be added), which is situated in the western sector of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, is a private game reserve sharing a common unfenced boundary on the western side with the Kruger National Park. It spans 50,000 hectares and is renowned for providing some of the best game viewing in Africa. Inyati’s rangers drive specially designed safari vehicles which are allowed off-road, ensuring you get exclusive and intimate game viewing opportunities.

The Sabi Sand reserve and Inyati Game Lodge has a dense concentration of wildlife and is home to the Big 5 – elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo. Cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wild dogs and a vast variety of antelope and other species may also be closely observed, free roaming within their own territories. Inyati is one of the best places in the world to get up close and personal with the elusive leopard.

A Safari at Inyati Game Lodge is an excellent option for families and friends, groups, Honeymooners, you can add as many days as you require for a longer safari.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Johannesburg – Inyati Game Lodge, Sabi Sand (L, D)

For this safari and tour idea, we have used Inyati Game Lodge, located in the private Sabi Sand Game Reserve, as accommodation for the safari. We can suggest any other lodge, according to your budget, requirements and availability at the lodges.

If you arrive in time in the afternoon, you can enjoy a light lunch and dessert, served on the lodge lawns in the shade of an acacia tree, with a view over a well frequented waterhole. Retreat to your chalet or spend some time in the swimming pool or maybe you would like to take in a siesta.

** You have the option of a 5 – 6 hours road shuttle transfer to the lodge, or a 1hr flight from Johannesburg or a 2hr 20min flight from Cape Town, either to the lodge airstrip, the Nelspruit or Skukuza airports, from where there is a road transfer to the lodge, the quotation will be adapted according to what you require.

Upon arrival at airport, you are met by our representative for a transfer to the lodge in the southern Sabi Sands Game Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Arrive in time to check in and to enjoy a light lunch and dessert, before retreating to your chalet or spend some time in the swimming pool or maybe you would like to take in a siesta. The Sabi Sand Game Reserve shares an open border with the Kruger so animals move freely. You enjoy game drives in open-vehicle game drives with an experienced ranger and a local Shangaan tracker who work together to give you a deeper understanding of the wildlife and the natural cycles of the bush.

Drives are in the early morning and late afternoon when game is most likely to be active.

After enjoying the bush sunset, a night safari begins following nocturnal animals as they begin to hunt. Upon return to the lodge after the game drive, freshen up for dinner and the evening meal, often enjoyed in a ‘boma’ which many guests feel is a particularly evocative treat. Day 2 – Inyati Game Lodge (B, L, D)

The following morning as the animals rise early, to hunt in the cool of the day, you will generally take your game drive immediately after early morning tea and coffee. The two to three-hour drive finishes in time for a late breakfast – keenly appreciated after your early morning activity. After breakfast if you wish, you can go on a guided walk into the bush with a ranger.

Morning game walks offer the ultimate, close-to-the-wild experience, and a chance to focus on the smaller bush inhabitants including birds, insects and butterflies. You can also discover the interesting worlds of trees, grasses, flowers, geology and ecology – of course, occasionally big game can be seen on walks – including the Big 5. Bush walks take place either just before or just after breakfast, depending on the time of year and prevailing weather conditions.

Alternatively, you can simply relax around the lodge during the heat of the day. The pattern for the rest of the day is similar to the day before with lunch and a late afternoon game drive.

Early evening return to the lodge to freshen up after the game drive – enjoy your last hearty dinner at the lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included).

Day 3 – Inyati Game Lodge – Johannesburg – Last Day (B)

On the last day of your Safari at Inyati Game Lodge, enjoy a final early morning game drive followed by breakfast, and then it is time to check out. You will be transferred to the lodge airstrip, the Nelspruit, or Skukuza Airports or to the meeting point for the road transfer to Johannesburg, arriving at the O.R. Tambo Airport between 17h00 & 18h00. (Breakfast included).
